Megan Burns represented Ramsey High School at the annual Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar this summer.
Go deeper: Each year New Jersey HOBY hosts over 300 high school sophomores from around the state for a 3-day conference filled with speakers, activities, and opportunities to network with accomplished peers and professionals.
What they’re saying: The HOBY Leadership Seminar was an experience that I will never forget. It taught me so much about how leadership has been applied to real world problems and can be used in my everyday life. I was also able to meet a lot of new people and learn to communicate, as well as, collaborate with them efficiently. With my new skills gathered from this retreat, I plan to utilize them in all aspects of my life, from leading my sports teams in any way I can, to school projects, and even friendships. The subjects touched during the seminar are ones very prominent in our world, and through talking about them students from all over New Jersey are able to become educated and spread them to their peers, therefore, making a significant impact in society.
