Grace Keoppel, a Ramapo College clinical intern in Mrs. Bessler’s RHS social studies classroom, recently introduced US I students to the tenets of Triangle Trade in Trade Winds, a simulation game she developed.
Why it matters: Subject to moral dilemmas and ocean storms, students find their experience dictated by their knowledge, values, skills for reaching consensus, their capacity for risk, and the fortunes of Mrs. Bessler’s multi-sided dice generator.
What they’re saying: “I thought about what I’m into and wondered how I could incorporate that into a lesson that the students might enjoy,” says Ms. Keoppel.
