What's happening: The Ramsey Big Blue Marching Band shares its gratitude with the Ramsey community and ShopRite for the tremendous support of its hoagie fundraiser.
By the numbers: 135 band and guard students sold about 3,000 hoagies and received generous monetary donations. The funds raised will enable the Ramsey Big Blue Band and Guard to travel to big stages, as well as fund scholarships for band seniors.
What they’re saying: “The beauty of the Hoagie sale is that students are invested in the process and practice important skills including many that are part of the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate: Responsibility, Self-Direction, Communication, Collaboration just to name a few. Students are given a chance to lead as "route captains." They make a product and are careful of quality control. They find fun in their work, create friendly competition, with the entire process having the ideal amount of adult support and student involvement. It connects us to the community and is a success on so many levels.” - Dr. Michael Thumm, RHS Principal
One fun thing: This semi-annual fundraiser began in 1972! Aside from an adaptation to sell t-shirts rather than hoagies due to COVID restrictions in 2020, it’s been consistently hosted twice annually. That’s a lot of sandwiches!
