What's happening: Ramsey High School senior Simon Jiang has earned Semi-Finalist status in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. This honor places Simon among the top 1% of high school students nationwide, recognizing his outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.
To achieve this status, Simon scored exceptionally well on the PSAT, which serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship.
Simon is now eligible to advance to Finalist status, a competitive process that involves submitting a detailed scholarship application.
Finalists will have the opportunity to compete for National Merit Scholarships and various corporate-sponsored awards.
In addition to his academic achievements, Simon was recognized last year for his musical talent. He earned seats in the 2024 Bergen County High School Band and Chorus and the North Jersey Region Bands, showcasing his versatility and dedication across multiple disciplines.
