The Ramsey Board of Education has earned the Carole E. Larsen Master Board Certification through the New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA) Board Member Academy.
The Board was presented with this award during the Bergen County School Boards Association meeting on September 30, 2024.
The big picture: About 24 months ago, the Board officers put together a plan to achieve not only board certification but to continue straight into the requirements for Master Board certification. All that hard work and effort culminated in the awards they received on Monday night.
Why it matters: By meeting the Academy’s rigorous standards, our Ramsey BOE has demonstrated a high regard for professional development. This certification focuses on key areas such as ethics, goal setting, policy development, finance, communications, community engagement, and student achievement.
By the numbers: This is a rare achievement for Boards of Education in New Jersey as Ramsey is only one of six boards in the State to have earned this certification in 2024.
What they’re saying: “As a field representative, there is no more satisfying feeling than helping a board reach a higher level of understanding and more effective application of the of good governance principles.
What’s also very gratifying to see is that this is a group of people who are all highly-accomplished, in their own right, with different ideas and perspectives, who find a way to build consensus in a collegial and cooperative way. And they do so in service of the principle that The Governance Core refers to as the moral imperative, “every child will learn, no exceptions.” -Matt Lee, NJSBA Bergen County Field Representative
