Guest speaker Chris Herren visited the District last Wednesday, first for a student presentation, then for a community-wide presentation in the evening. This powerful program was coordinated in collaboration with the Ramsey Municipal Alliance, to address the topics of substance abuse and addiction.
Why it matters: By sharing his personal story and offering guidance, Chris Herren's program provided a powerful platform for open dialogue about addiction within our community. This initiative represents an important step in raising awareness, fostering understanding, and equipping both students and parents with the knowledge and tools to address the complex issue of substance abuse.
What they’re saying: “Chris Herren's presentation to the students was both insightful and impactful, with a strong emphasis on the concept of "day one." This approach aligns seamlessly with the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate competencies, promoting essential life skills such as: responsibility, self-direction, reflection and empathy.
By focusing on these crucial areas, the program aimed to equip students with the tools and mindset necessary to make informed decisions and resist the pressures that can lead to substance abuse.” -Sunni Roberts, Student Assistance Counselor, RHS
