The RHS School Counseling Department, in collaboration with the Ramsey Parent Forum, invites all senior parents to Senior Parent Night on Monday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM. The evening will begin with a presentation in the RHS Auditorium, followed by small group discussions with your child’s school counselor.
Key Topic: FAFSA/NJAFAA Requirements
As per New Jersey's new graduation requirement P.L. 2023, c.295, students must complete the FAFSA or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application (NJAFAA) to be eligible for graduation.
FAFSA allows students to apply for federal financial aid, including Pell grants, work-study, and loans. It is also used by many colleges, states, and private aid providers to determine financial assistance.
NJAFAA is an alternative for students who are not U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens. To qualify, students must meet specific criteria, such as attending a New Jersey high school for at least three years and graduating from a New Jersey school.
For students who do not qualify for FAFSA or NJAFAA, parents/guardians must complete the FAFSA/NJAFAA Waiver Form and submit it to their student’s school counselor or Ms. Lemma Taha. Waiver forms will be available at the event for families wishing to complete them on-site.
We look forward to seeing you on September 23rd!
For any questions, please contact the School Counseling Department or Ms. Lemma Taha, Director of School Counseling
