New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy — On October 24th Ramsey High School will offer 12th grade students the opportunity to earn the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy.
🗳 The big picture: The NJ State Seal of Biliteracy, established in 2016, recognizes the value of multilingualism. Students who demonstrate proficiency in a second language, along with English, receive the Seal on their transcript, a certificate from the NJ Department of Education, and a medal to wear at graduation.
Why it matters:
By recognizing proficiency in multiple languages, the NJ Seal of Biliteracy gives students a competitive edge in college applications and the workforce.
Starting in January of 11th grade, students can take the Seal of Biliteracy exam in any language.
By the numbers:
The Class of 2024 earned 49 Seal of Biliteracy recognitions in 10 languages.
